
BRYANT, ARKANSAS (Saline 911 News) – The Bryant Police Department arrested 22-year-old Lessie Marhanka late Saturday afternoon.
According to the police release, Officers received a call to the Bryant Walmart regarding a 2-month-old baby left in a shopping cart. When Officers arrived on scene, they found the child in the care of another person who had witnessed the incident. It was determined that the mother of the child left her baby in the cart after pushing the cart into the corral.
Witnesses at the scene gave Officers a description of the vehicle; however the mother had left her wallet behind in the car. With this information, they were able to make contact with Lessie Marhanka and her husband Dawlton Marhanka. When the couple arrived back at Walmart, Lessie Marhanka was upset and taken into custody by Bryant Police Officers.
Lessie Marhanka is charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Minor 1st Degree (D-Felony); and Possession of a Controlled Substance Schedule I/II. She had in her possession 4 white prescription pills.
DHS was notified and the child was released to the custody of the grandmother after being checked out at the SMH.
